Sin and Hell

I heard recently a message on livestream from a mission conference and a speaker says, “Satan can’t send you to hell, but your sin can.” That is very true. Each person dies due to his/her own sin not due to someone else’s sin. As we read John 10:10a NIV, “The thief [Adversary] comes only to steal and kill and destroy,” even though the Adversary kills you, you die because of your sin in Romas 3:23 NIV, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Sin separates us from God the Creator. Therefore death comes into the world. There are three types of death: a physical death, a spiritual death, and an eternal death (in conscious). Hell (Hades, Lake of Fire) is a total annihilation from God. In this life till death, we are benefited anything from God. Sinners and the Adversary are still receiving God’s provisions (resources) although the evil and the good are mixed together until the harvest comes as we read Matthew 13:28b-30 NIV, “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them [weeds] up?’ ‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’” and Matthew 5:45 NIV, “… He [God] causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

After the harvest, the evil (still in sin) will be fully separated from both the good (former sinners) and God the Creator. Because of the total separation, the “place” (both visible and invisible) has no provisions (resources) from God, which is the source of life. That is hell. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 6:23 NIV. – T
